All about Antares 8 model
The Antarès 8 launches from the Bénéteau shipyards are live-aboard pilothouse boats for coastal cruising, with a semi-planing hull. Historically powered by inboard diesel engines, they are have now gone outboard.
4 models of Antares 8 boats came off the Bénéteau production lines in the Vendée.
The 1990, 2006, and 2010 versions all have inboard engines (Nanni T4 - Toyota based) with 200 HP diesel for 2010) while the more recent models, launched in 2016, feature an outboard with the same power.
8 m is already a comfortable size for a houseboat with 4 berths and all the comfort you could need for cruising.
The inboard versions reach speeds of around 23 knots while the new versions of the Antares 8, the Antares 8 OB are now all powered outboard and can do 30 knots.
In terms of the diesel engine, the durability and reduced fuel consumption allow for a considerably longer stride and the outboard factor guarantees top speeds and sportsworthiness.
On the accommodation side, the cockpit includes a saloon, which can be converted into a sleeping area and sunbathing area (2006 model). Below deck there is a double cabin, a bathroom with a toilet (and shower from the 2006 model onwards).
Still characterised by a powerful hull with a plunging V shape, the flaring design (where it widens in breadth over the water) increased with the years, as does the available interior space.
A powerful hull guarantees good handling in rough seas and powerful engines mean you stay safe when the weather gets rough. And what about the space inside? What could be better than plenty of room in a big cruiser like the Antares 8?
