With the increasingly cruise positioning of the Beneteau Antares, the Vendée shipyard, world leader in the production of pleasure craft, felt the need for a fishing-oriented boat in the range. The 2012 Beneteau Barracuda 9 Fly is based on the hull of the Antares 8.8, equipped with the AirStep system, which creates a cushion of air underneath the hull, thus enhancing comfort on board.
Powered by 2 x 200 to 2 x 250 HP Mercury verado outboard motor, the Beneteau Barracuda 9 Fly has borrowed some features of the sport-fishing boats dear to the Americans. With a powerful engine (nearly 40 knots on the 400 HP version), a flybridge to spot fish from further off, an uncluttered cockpit so there are no obstacles to the rods and other accessories - it's got all you need for a successful fishing trip.
But the Beneteau Barracuda 9 Fly has some other tricks up its sleeve: a double cabin and its toilet and galley turn it into a fast weekender, capable of accessing any port of call thanks to its reduced draft. And the front cockpit, while it can be used as a casting platform for fishing enthusiasts, it also appeals to holidaymakers and sunbathers as it transforms in a jiffy into a sunbathing area (option). The cockpit is equipped in the same way and the fly's cockpit accommodates both pilot and co-pilot. The two swim platforms, either side of the engines, allow easy access to the sea.
