All about Conquest range
American manufacturer Boston Whaler entered the motorboat construction market in the United States in 1954, having developed a new type of material: polyurethane foam. The foam was positioned into the hull right up to the gunnels, making the small Open Boston Whaler unsinkable.
These boats are similar to French Doris boats and can be fitted with a range of engines.
And voilà, the Boston Whaler Montauk emerged. A small open boat that continues to appear in the brand's range today. The legend of Boston Whaler boats was built upon their unsinkability. As a result, the company began supplying boats to commercial markets, such as the US Coast Guard, US Navy and US Marine Corps. Boston Whaler Conquest boats are the brand's most popular creations.
Launched in the 90s, they were initially equipped with pilothouses, comparable to French Jeanneau Merry Fisher boats, before evolving into larger Cabin Cruisers over time. The current Boston Whaler Conquest range varies in length from 27 foot to 42 foot and includes boats as diverse as small pilothouse fishing boats to large Cabin Cruisers, capable of accommodating a family on a week-long cruise.
Boston Whaler has only ever built outboard boats, so it is only natural that the Boston Whaler Conquest followed this direction.
The Boston Whaler Conquest 405 is the flagship of the range and is equipped with four 300hp Mercury Verado engines, delivering speeds of over 50 knots. A true Sports Cruiser! The Boston Whaler 285 Conquest sits at the other end of the range. An American-style Sports Fishing boat, it has a 500hp engine for a length of 8.51m and can be used for short cruises.
Conquest: find your future boats
The range of boats centralizes models with similar characteristics, both in their design and in their use. A boat builder can have a range dedicated to racing-cruising yachts and another specializing in small outboard motor boats. The ranges of boats may need to evolve to better meet the expectations of boaters. Thus, certain ranges are disappearing to make way for new generations of boats.
Choosing your boat model from the range
Buying a new or used boat requires taking stock of your expectations as a future boat owner Here are the main questions to ask:
- What is my maximum budget for buying a boat?
- Do I have a berth available?
