All about Montauk range

After graduating from Harvard University, Fisher started his own business and founded the Boston Whaler yard in 1954, just after discovering the possibilities of a new material: polyurethane foam. Sandwiching this foam between two resin and fibreglass walls creates a completely unsinkable boat.

Famous images of Dick Fisher at the helm of one of his Boston Whaler Montauk boats, sawed in half widthways with a chainsaw, yet still floating, became great marketing material for the Boston Whaler brand.

The brand's success started with the creation of a range of small boats, which went on to become the renowned Boston Whaler Montauk open hull boats. Strengthened by its ability to build unsinkable boats, Boston Whaler quickly received orders from American defence forces, which saw Boston Whaler boats used in patrol missions in ports called on by the US Navy throughout the 20th century.

The US Navy, US Coast Guard and US Marine Corps have always featured among the brand's clients.

Simple and unsinkable, Montauk boats are transportable and easily beached, given their reduced weight. The current Boston Whaler Montauk range includes four centre console boats ranging in length from 17 foot to 21 foot. Larger boats such as the Boston Whaler Montauk 210 can be fitted with a T-Top and rod holders, turning them into economical Sport Fishing boats. Available engines, supplied by Mercury, range from 60hp to 200hp, the latter available on the Montauk 210.

Montauk: find your future boats

The range of boats centralizes models with similar characteristics, both in their design and in their use. A boat builder can have a range dedicated to racing-cruising yachts and another specializing in small outboard motor boats. The ranges of boats may need to evolve to better meet the expectations of boaters. Thus, certain ranges are disappearing to make way for new generations of boats.
