All about Bruno Abbate brand
The history of the Bruno Abbate shipyard, known today as Primatist, dates back to 1877, when Bruno's grandfather, Giuseppe, built small semi-decked fishing boats for the fishermen of Lake Garda, where the shipyard was located. Guido, his son, introduced engines and a taste for speed to the family shipyard, which at the time was called Cantiere di Portezza, in the early 1920s.
Since that period, the family became enamoured with building high-performance boats. As specialists in motorboating, the Abbates made racing motorboats that the world was clamouring for: the fastest of their boats held the world speed record on closed waters for a long time, at over 250 km per hour. In 1977, Guido Abbate's son Bruno oriented the shipyard, which bore his name at the time, towards constructing fibreglass sports hulls. An offshore pilot and expert technician, Bruno Abbate came up with the brilliant idea of combining performance with luxury in a new type of boat: the Primatist.
The success of these new boats, designed by the Pininfarina studio since 2000, has never been in question, so much so that the name "Primatist" has become the brand name on all the shipyard's communications. The Primatist G70, a sort of mix between a cabin cruiser and an offshore racer, opened the gateway to a new type of motorboat: the express cruiser, available in several models including the very successful Primatist G41. The current range includes four models, two of the more commercial "B" series and two others in the "G" series, with more strongly sporty emphasis. All Primatists are manufactured in Sardinia by Cantieri di Levante.
