Cantieri Di Donna
Located on Italy's Tyrrhenian coast, Gaeta is home to a wealth of renowned shipyards. The Cantiere di Donna is one of them. Young Pasquale di Donna founded his own company in the 1960s after learning the ropes on the launching pads of the builders that lined the waterfront at the time. New constructions, maintenance, careening, propulsion systems... Cantieri di Donna offered a comprehensive service for boats designed for work, surveillance, fishing and pleasure.
Cantiere di Donna was a specialist in wooden frames!
No material is excluded, but above all, the shipyard was renowned for its teams skilled in marine timber framing. Hundreds of boats, some of them historic, passed over the landing ramps for a renovation. Over the years, Cantiere navale di Donna (literally translated as the "lady's shipyard"), developed significant infrastructure: 2 slipways capable of accommodating ships of up to 1200 tonnes, equipped with mobile rails to adapt to all hull shapes located over an area covering 5000 m².
Additionally, a marine hoist capable of lifting 400 tonnes ensured swift interventions. In the pleasure boating sector, the shipyard long featured the beautiful Serapoin range in its catalogue ranging from sizes of 38 foot to 42 foot. The founder, and later his children, remained the bosses of the shipyard until 2015, when bankruptcy put an end to the activities of Cantiere di Donna.
