All about Chris Craft brand
Chris-Craft, a legend!
The story begins in 1874, when Christopher Columbus Smith, then 13 years old, built his first boat in the small town of Algonac, Michigan. Together with his brother Hank, they started to produce "Runabouts", open mahogany boats that would make the shipyard famous for decades. In the 1950s, no less than 139 different models were available, and then Chris Craft built his first fibreglass unit. The 2 construction modes were similar until 1971, when the last Chris-Craft made of mahogany was released.
The current range continues to favour runabouts with the Corsair 27, 30 and 34 series, open boats with timeless lines, long foredecks and engine hoods topped by a welcoming sun deck. These largely motorised boats are similar to the Calypso or Catalina models in the range, with their covered central console and slightly softer silhouette. Chris-Craft boats are designed for day trips, fast island crossings and the pleasures of mooring up anywhere.
Chris-Craft boats are American-style boats and like all boats across the Atlantic, you sail them while adopting the air of casual relaxation they exude. Sailing aboard a Chris-Craft means entering into the legendary world of a certain kind of yachting, which may be part dream, part recklessness, but that also means becoming part of a tradition that goes back 147 years!
