All about Cornish Crabber brand
The Cornish Crabber brand appeared in 1977, but the first Crabber was built as early as 1973. It was originally made from plywood and the designer made it for private use. At the sight of this lovely little boat sailing along the Camel River estuary, the orders came flooding in. A mould was made and the models that were finally produced from it were made from polyester.
The shipyard is located in Rock, a fishing village on the right bank of a beautiful estuary in North Cornwall. This estuary is full of the characteristic silhouettes from this brand, with their traditional lines and rigging. Although they're made of polyester, Cornish Crabbers make extensive use of well-chosen pieces of solid wood and a hull and sail colours in keeping with the traditions of older sailboats.
The range starts with the Limpet 10, a 3-metre dinghy and goes up to the Mystery 35, a gorgeous "old-fashioned" 10.67-metre cruiser. But Cornish Crabbers specialises above all in dayboats, which are either sailboats or motorboats; usually equipped with facilities that make them suitable for water camping.
Sailing in a Cornish Crabber means becoming part of a tradition! Not only have the owners banded together in a very dynamic club, but the yard also offers to refurbish used Crabbers that have been buffeted just a bit too much by the waves. They're a great opportunity to discover the Camel river estuary with your other half. So why not go for it?
