Since 1966 to be precise, when Giovanni Cranchi opened his first workshop on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. At the time of production, the Mediterranean 43 was equipped with innovative technology offering outstanding comfort: the IPS system marketed and distributed by Volvo-Penta. The bases are made up of pods that can rotate 360°, which greatly aids manoeuvring. The boat is steered using traditional controls when sailing, with the system really coming into its own when manoeuvring in ports.
The boat can be manoeuvred to the nearest millimetre in circles and turns using the joystick. The pods paired with the bow thruster move the boat away from or towards the dock regardless of wind conditions with a single push of a button.
