All about Dufour 455 Grand Large version
The Dufour shipyard was created by Michel Dufour in 1957. This visionary engineer immediately started building sailing boats with polyester hulls, an innovative material at the time. They really made it big in 1964 with the Sylphe: 410 units were produced in 10 years!
Building on this success, the La Rochelle-based shipyard quickly turned to top-of-the-range boats and in the 2000s launched its Grand Large range, dedicated to coastal and offshore cruising.
Built from 2005 to 2020, the Dufour 455 Grand Large is a comfortable, high-performance yacht for all weather conditions. Her 13.45 m long hull has a 96.2 m2 sail area and weighs 10.43 t.
The deck plan is ingenious. The cockpit has a table with flaps that adapts to your daily routine while sailing. It also has a double steering wheel and an opening transom that can be transformed into a swim platform or gangway. When stopped, there is easy access to the water or the pontoon.
The interior layout is typical of this La Rochelle shipyard; it's well thought out and modular with two double cabins at the stern and a spacious double cabin with private bathroom in the forepeak.
