All about Fipa Italiana Yachts brand
The precise boundary between boating and yachting is not always easy to see.
Where does the world of large yachts end and the world of superyachts begin?
FIPA italiana is composed of four shipyards, each of which occupies a niche market.
Intermare, one of the oldest Italian shipyards, now specialises in the construction of custom-made steel yachts up to 80 metres long. With its teams of metalwork carpenters, it also takes on major naval subcontracts throughout the region.
Maiora is responsible for the construction of motoryachts of between 20 and 50 metres in length, all made of fibreglass composite. These custom-made motoryachts allow for a degree of customisation that is unknown in mass production.
AB Yachts is the world leader in the construction of water jet propelled motoryachts. The range now includes an 80' Open(!), and 6 Express Cruisers ranging from 24' to 145' in length.
Made of Kevlar composite, these light and very powerful boats (the largest sport 3 V12 engines), exceed 40 knots.
CBI Navi focuses on manufacturing large motoryachts built from steel or aluminium. They can reach up to 80 m in length. These boats are all made entirely to measure. They are the "tailors" of the group.
The Fipa 20 Maiora boasts 3 double cabins and bathrooms and is powered by two 650 HP engines. The Fipa 24 Maiora features four double cabins and has two 1500 HP V12 turbo diesel Man engines.
Both are located exactly on the boundary between boating and yachting.
