All about Fjord brand
Where else could a tradition for motorboats designed for day or coastal trips come from than a country with a particularly extensive and variegated coastline? For Fjord Yachts, the question is not hard to answer: Norway, or more exactly, Arendal (a place name that might sound strangely familiar to parents of young children…).
First founded in 1960, Fjord has produced thousands of these outboard motorboats over the years, some in wheelhouse form and others in open styles. The company makes its boats from glass fibre, and they are designed primarily for day trips. In 2006, Fjord joined the Hanse Yachts group.
With an extensive portfolio of sailing yacht, catamaran and powerboat brands to its name, the Hanse Group is now the world's third largest yacht builder and has clearly defined what a Fjord boat will be like from this point forward.
Fjords are fast, powerful and invariably open-style motorboats equipped with large swim platforms and offering a very wide range of configurations.
Speaking of platforms, this concept really comes into its own with Fjords, due to the fact the basic layout of the boats makes it possible to install various kinds of saloon configurations or daybeds, or even to leave it bare, with the entire deck covered in teak.
Featuring twin inboard Volvo motors with IPS pods, the Fjord 40 Open (960 HP) can reach speeds of 40 knots. But it's not just the motor(s) and drive system that make a Fjord what it is; with their angular lines and T-tops, they have a futuristic, designer look rather unlike anything else on the market.
