All about Gobbi brand
The Italian Gobbi shipyard in Viareggio has been building an expanding range of open day boats since the mid 1970s. Known for their sophisticated design, Gobbis represented everything about what an "Italian" boat should be.Taut exterior lines, characterised by a strong architectural concept, an interior design full of curves and rounded shapes, sometimes almost organic, and carefully selected exotic materials. Gobbi built up its know-how by successfully constructing a series of fibreglass motorboats with a sporty look and high quality finish. There are two different periods in Gobbi's work.
In 2001, the Azimut Benetti Group bought the shipyard. This means the pre-2001 productions consist of a range of Open and other express cruisers of a length less than or equal to 10 m, all handcrafted, and renowned for their seaworthy qualities and finish. For example, the Gobbi 315 SC, an elegant express cruiser with a streamlined arch, or the Gobbi 220 bow-rider, both with inboard motors.
The Gobbis after 2001 saw their name attached to the Atlantis, which was the name of the industrial project that Azimut had consigned to Gobbi, with the increase in size allowing the parent company to concentrate on large yachts. The Gobbi 47 Atlantis represents this transition period. After a few years, the Gobbi brand disappeared and the yachts produced in the workshops took the name Azimut Atlantis. The current Azimut Atlantis range consists of two express cruisers with a very sporty design, the 47 and the 51 (lengths given in feet).
