All about Sun range
Built by the Jeanneau shipyard (designers of the Sun Odyssey cruising range) in the Vendée region, Jeanneau Suns are small cruisers or large day-boats – the choice is yours. There are two models in this range created in 2000 and whose production stopped in 2010.
The Sun 2000, a dinghy of 6.24 m in length and 2.55 m in width, can be towed by road behind a small car, a key factor as to why this yacht is so popular, with over 1400 being built.
The Jeanneau Sun 2500 (7.50 m long and 2.90 m wide) hasn't got quite the same specs which made getting its little brother into the water so easy.
These simple and robust sailboats, devoid of anything unnecessary, are designed with an open interior plan, without partitions. Featuring four berths, two in the forepeak and two in the saloon (Sun 2000) or in a double berth aft (Sun 2500), both models have a small galley but only the Sun 2500 has the comfort of a shower room.
The Sun 2000 is a sailing boat suited to day trips or bivouacs, for an extended weekend, while the Sun 2500 with its more sophisticated fittings can be used for short cruises. While the Sun 2000 existed only in dinghy version, the Sun 2500 was launched in both a dinghy version and a weighted keelboat version (TE 1.60m) which works in the boat's favour and very pleasantly turns up its behaviour a notch. Jeanneau Sun, practical with nothing superfluous!
Sun: find your future boats
The range of boats centralizes models with similar characteristics, both in their design and in their use. A boat builder can have a range dedicated to racing-cruising yachts and another specializing in small outboard motor boats. The ranges of boats may need to evolve to better meet the expectations of boaters. Thus, certain ranges are disappearing to make way for new generations of boats.
Choosing your boat model from the range
Buying a new or used boat requires taking stock of your expectations as a future boat owner Here are the main questions to ask:
- What is my maximum budget for buying a boat?
- Do I have a berth available?
- What is my boater profile?
