Launched in 2011 under its first name, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 389 has enjoyed a long career in the Jeanneau range. And longevity, in the field of yacht building, is a synonym for success!
The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 389 is none other than the Sun Odyssey 379 (same moulds) but with an added delphinière.
Designed by Lombard, the Sun Odyssey 389 is the ideal size (at 11.75 m long and 3.76 m wide) for a family cruiser.
It's kitted out with two or three cabins and one or two shower rooms, a U-shaped galley to starboard and a (minuscule) chart table to port. Note the 2.05 m x 1.85 m bed dimensions in the shipowner's suite!
The smoked glass in the hull and roof introduce a lot of light into this attractively designed yacht.
On deck, the cockpit and steering wheels are wide and unobstructed. The table is slightly off-centre for easy movement.
Comfortable gangways allow easy access to the bow and a stern that tilts entirely to access the sea.
With its sloop rig, equipped with a furling genoa with a strong overlap (optional self-tacking jib on furling system) and a semi-battened mainsail with lazy-bag and jack, the Sun Odyssey 389 is not overpowered (70m2 upwind) so it can be comfortably sailed by just two people but is totally transformed in character should you wish to fit a CODE-ZERO on the delphiniere.
Available in three different draughts (GTE 2.0 m - PTE 1.6 m and ballasted dinghy 1.1 m), there is something for every preference and every use!
