All about Sun Rise range
Sun Rise: Jeanneau's take on a versatile cruiser!
The Sun Rise series emerged in 1984, at a time when a 10-metre cruising yacht was considered a large boat! The Jeanneau shipyard in Vendée, France was the birthplace of a versatile, efficient and well-built cruiser boat based on Fauroux plans. Monolithic polyester of the time offered solid structures, albeit at a pretty substantial weight: 4.7 tonnes on the dynamometer! The first model, the 34', was replaced a few years later by the 35', which included steps in the transom among other developments. Both versions of the Sun Rise are fast, well-built and well-balanced cruisers at the helm. It has a large sail area which should be reduced swiftly to maintain this smoothness at the helm. This is particularly true for the centerboarder version, which is said to be a more heeled boat than the fixed ballast version. That said, the Sun Rise is very comfortable in the breeze, with several boats sailing long distances, including around the world. The boat is available in 2 layout versions: an "Owner" version with 2 double cabins, and a "Team" version with 3 cabins, including 2 doubles at the stern. This version is generally preferred when bought second-hand. Although the cabins are a little smaller, it is easy to convert one of them into an easily accessible technical room, as is done on modern boats.
Sun Rise: find your future boats
The range of boats centralizes models with similar characteristics, both in their design and in their use. A boat builder can have a range dedicated to racing-cruising yachts and another specializing in small outboard motor boats. The ranges of boats may need to evolve to better meet the expectations of boaters. Thus, certain ranges are disappearing to make way for new generations of boats.
Choosing your boat model from the range
Buying a new or used boat requires taking stock of your expectations as a future boat owner Here are the main questions to ask:
- What is my maximum budget for buying a boat?
- Do I have a berth available?
- What is my boater profile?
