Launched in 2019, the Lagoon 40 is the entry-level offering in this range of cruising catamaran.
Home of the Lagoon, the CNB shipyard has recently turned its development towards larger boats. The 40-foot catamaran market is still very much alive; CMB has enjoyed success in this area with the Lagoon 380 and Lagoon 400.
Lagoon 40 is first and foremost about looks. It boasts a streamlined design, and when viewed from the exterior, every element has a purpose. Simple is beautiful.
A vertical curved nacelle window incorporating the shared living space on three sides and a trapezoidal hatch form the main exterior features of the Lagoon 40. The helm station is fitted against the starboard hull bulkhead on this 12m catamaran.
It offers unobstructed views of the bow and manoeuvres are within easy reach of the helmsman, leading back to the top of the roof. Rigged as a sloop with a self-tacking jib and semi-battened mainsail, the mast on the Lagoon 40 has been moved back to the middle of the roof, making way for a larger surface area on the headsail. Lagoon 40 can also be equipped with a code 0 furling system; a particularly welcome addition on these large catamarans when sailing downwind.
Two saildrive engines are available: 29hp and 45hp. There are three possible interior layouts: a 3-cabin version with 1 bathroom, a 4-cabin version with 2 bathrooms, and a 4-cabin version with 4 bathrooms; the latter more specifically intended for charter companies.
