All about LEOPARD range

Leopard catamarans are built in South Africa by the Robertson & Caine shipyard. In 1995, Moorings, the world's leading charter company, commissioned this shipyard to design and build the first five catamarans in what was to become a long-running series.

Intended for rental in the tropics, these boats were designed to be easy to handle and comfortable with good air conditioning and lots of windows, as well as being sturdy and easy to maintain. Starting in 2002, a full range of these boats was developed, which then gradually became accessible to private individuals. Lengths range from 42 to 53 feet (12.67 to 16.19 m) and several models have been voted Boat of the Year around the world.

The catamarans in the "sailing" range have been designed to perform well, thanks to their square-top mainsail and overlapping genoa, while remaining comfortable. You manoevre via the helm station, which is sheltered by a rigid bimini, and the lounge-type deck saloon acts as a genuine additional living area.

This range of power catamarans haven't simply been adapted from sailing boats. The hulls have been specially designed for this use so you get high performance and therefore sufficient autonomy for smooth deep-sea cruising.

Pick Leopard if you want tried and tested catamarans!

The catamaran shape offers exceptional stability and space, both inside and on deck. Leopard Catamarans are one of those rare breeds that are certified in the United States as well as in Europe and there are over 2,500 units sailing all over the world currently.

LEOPARD: find your future boats

The range of boats centralizes models with similar characteristics, both in their design and in their use. A boat builder can have a range dedicated to racing-cruising yachts and another specializing in small outboard motor boats. The ranges of boats may need to evolve to better meet the expectations of boaters. Thus, certain ranges are disappearing to make way for new generations of boats.

Choosing your boat model from the range

Buying a new or used boat requires taking stock of your expectations as a future boat owner Here are the main questions to ask:

  • What is my maximum budget for buying a boat?
  • Do I have a berth available?
  • What is my boater profile?
