All about Sciallino brand
Gozzi boats are to the Ligurians what Pointus are to the Provençals.
They are traditional powerboats with high sides, capable of holding the sea in moderately windy conditions.
Mario Sciallino, the founder of the eponymous shipyard, fell in love with the Gozzi during his apprenticeship in traditional marine carpentry during the 1930's at the Patronne shipyard.
Gozzi, with their slender lines and relatively high bows, are powered by a two-stroke diesel engine, recognisable among thousands for their distinctive "teuf-teuf".
Sciallino reinterpreted the Gozzi, lengthening it, adding a cabin or a wheelhouse and in 1990 launched the Sciallino 34, a real cabin cruiser, the brand's bestseller.
A few years later, in 2006, the Sciallino shipyard presented its flagship, the Gemy, a large flybridge Gozzo almost 15 metres in length.
The current Sciallino range includes boats from 5 to 15 m.
The Sciallino 19 is an authentic Gozzi open boat.
The following versions 23, 25, 30, 34 and 40 feet are built with a cabin, designed for cruising or fishing and there's a fly bridge on the larger ones.
All versions are powered inboard with one or two diesel engines which fortunately no longer produce the classic "teuf-teuf" of traditional Gozzi!
This engine, coupled with a displacement hull, makes the Sciallino an elegant mix between a Cabin Cruiser and a Trawler in the Italian style.
The Sciallino shipyard was eventually taken over by its neighbour Patrone, also a well-known builder of Gozzi, with whom Mario Sciallino did his apprenticeship.
The circle was complete!
