Classified as a City of Art and History, Nantes is now home to the local government headquarters for the Pays-de-la-Loire region, as well as the main city of the Loire-Atlantique department. Nantes prides itself on being named European Green Capital in 2013, a title awarded each year since 2010 by the European Commission to a city that leads the way in environmental matters and reaches ambitious environmental goals. The most iconic landmarks in Nantes are the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany and the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, which were built when Nantes was still part of the region of Brittany. For many years the capital of the Duchy of Brittany, Nantes was known as the Venice of the West, thanks to the many bodies of water flowing through it. The most important of these are the Loire, which runs right through the city centre from east to west; the Erdre, which runs from north to south before meeting the Loire; and the Sèvre which runs south of the city. Rent a boat without a licence at Nantes to discover a city steeped in history, full of surprises and unique sights.
Boat rental in Nantes is well established on the city’s two smaller rivers, the Erdre and the Sèvre. Boat rental is offered on the Loire in Nantes, but we recommend sailing on the Erdre and the Sèvre. These are calmer bodies of water and will allow you to discover plenty of stately homes and other sights steeped in history. Nantes boasts a number of locations from which to rent your boat for a boat trip on the Erdre. On this page, you can find all our rental offers for boats without a licence on the Erdre at Nantes. Our professional electric boat rental partners at Nantes (Ruban Vert, etc.) are located on the Île de Versailles. This little island situated in the centre of Nantes is a perfect starting point for a boat trip on the Erdre.
When you rent your electric boat at Nantes, you can set sail for a magnificent boat trip on the Erdre. This calm waterway offers a perfect environment for sailing in an electric boat. For your boat trip on the Erdre, you will leave from the Île de Versailles. Situated in the centre of the city, the Île de Versailles is home to a beautiful Japanese-style park. Once you are on board your electric boat, different parts of Nantes are within reach, depending on how long you rent your boat for. For example, a half-day boat rental can take you to Sucé-sur-Erdre. On your trip from Nantes to Sucé-sur-Erdre, you can admire a number of stately homes in the typical Pays-de-la-Loire style. This route will allow you to see the stately home chateaus of La Couronnerie, Nay, La Chantrerie and La Desnerie.
