Description

This is a "travel" sailboat as opposed to a "racing" sailboat. Its solid steel hull does not fear the
numerous "UFOs" (unidentified floating objects) and ice cubes.

Morgane is a love at first sight in August 2016 and a beautiful love story that begins. It is above
all a dream that becomes reality!
It's 25'500 nautical miles covered in 4,5 years (more than a round the world trip by the
 equator).
Morgane has allowed us to reach the most remote regions of the globe but also the most
 beautiful to our eyes.
Morgane is also a lot of work to renovate her. Regular maintenance hours to ensure her good
functioning and to make her as comfortable as possible.
It is finally the result of a project that wants to last. Thanks to Morgane our desire to continue
this life of sea nomads is greater than ever.
However, today the need to live in a bigger space is felt because soon we hope, the family will
grow.

HIS BIOGRAPHY

Morgane was launched in April 2014 in Belgium.
In August 2016 Morgane found two new buyers - sailors Amanda and Robin who then
started a circumnavigation in May 2017. A warm up in the North Sea to Norway, then the
descent of the west coast of Europe allows her crew to gain confidence and continue
 their epic journey.
In January 2018 Morgane crossed the Atlantic, then sailed up the entire east coast of the
United States to Canada Labrador. In July 2018 visit of the west coast of Greenland.
In August 2018, a first attempt of the Northwest Passage is realized. However, stuck by
the ice in Canada Nunavut, Morgane returns to winter dry in Sisimiut in Greenland.
On September 9, 2019, Morgane is the 300th boat to cross the famous Northwest
 Passage.
Morgane and her crew spend the winter 2019-2020 in Alaska in the port of Kodiak.
A total refreshment is started in October 2020 in Port Townsend - Washington. A total of
6 months of dry work to treat the rust and repaint the entire interior and exterior of the
boat. Lining, insulation, pipes, toilets, electrical wiring, everything is refurbished.
Morgane and her crew sat sail again in June 2021 for a trip down the west coast of the
United States and Baja California and finally winter in the Sea of Cortez in Mexico.
Transpacific is due on march 2022 if we did not sell her before.

 ITS CONSTRUCTION
"Morgane" has a displacement of 5.4 tons, which, for its length, is not at all penalizing. The
two-ton ballast gives it a good ratio. Its hull with sharp chines is 4mm thick and its deck is 3mm
thick. The steel grade used is ST 37-2. All the stainless steel accessories, sheet rails, cleats,
fairleads, toe rails, stanchion feet etc... have been welded with special electrodes (309L)
whose composition ensures that the weld metal is resistant to corrosion (Cr>18%) and has
high mechanical characteristics (Ni>8%). The advantage of welding on screwed or bolted
elements is the total absence of risk of infiltration.

 ON THE MOTOR
Its 44 hp Seenergie engine, which is the equivalent of the marinized Peugeot 106 engine, and
its high efficiency three-blade propeller are very reassuring when faced with rough and choppy
seas as it is sometimes the case at the entrance of Zeebrugge for example. At 2500 rpm,
"Morgane" easily reaches 6 or 7 knots on flat sea. In port, the presence of its bow propeller
ensures great maneuverability in maneuvers. A half-turn on the spot can thus be done in a
space of less than 13m wide.

 ENERGY
Two solar panels of 140W each, installed on an aft gantry securely attached to the balcony
and its Rutland 914i wind turbine allows us to recharge our AGM battery pack daily to 100%
(2 batteries in series for a total of 200 Ah). There is also a 75 Ah battery dedicated to the
engine starting and a 110 Ah battery for the use of the windlass and the bow propeller. The
whole is connected to an Export pro battery controller.
A Jabsco 1,9bar electric pump is connected to the two 150 liters’ stainless steel tanks (located
under the saloon benches) and supplies the two taps of the boat (bathroom and kitchen).
A 40-liter Isothemp water heater located under the bathroom sink allows for several hot
 showers on deck.

 SAILING SPECIFICATIONS
In terms of sailing comfort, the long keel allows "Morgane" not to pitch when the waves and
the wind are facing her. The draft of 1.30m ensures access to many shallow areas and when
the boat is settled on its first chine, at speeds close to beam, it is comfortable and works at its
best. At force 5 to 6, with its breeze jib and one or two reefs in the mainsail, it blocks the
speedo at 8 to 8.5 knots. The three-reefed, fully battened, track-mounted mainsail with
Harken ball-bearing cars performs well at all points of sail; it is easily hoisted and dropped into
its lazy-bag in two or three seconds. The breeze jib and storm jib are new. The genoa and
mainsail are in very good condition as well as her 120m square symmetrical racing spinnaker.

The cockpit is covered with a TBS anti-slip coating while the deck has been treated with an
 effective anti-slip paint.

ACCASTILLAGE
"Morgane" is equipped with a drop down forestay which allows the windward jib or the storm
jib to be hoisted. It is also possible to hoist the jib and the genoa partially unfurled in "scissors"
to the windward side. The mast is equipped with the necessary fittings for a symmetrical
spinnaker, with carriage on the front and a 3.5 m spinnaker pole. The reefing lines, mainsail
halyards, genoa halyards, topping lift, rigid downhaul etc., all go back to the cockpit and a set
of twelve cleats allows to manage the whole without leaving the safety zone. On the roof, two
LEWMAR ST 40 winches and in the cockpit, for the genoa sheets, two LEWMAR ST 46 winches.
The mainsheet is mounted on a two-meter rail that allows for fine tuning. The genoa sheets
are each adjusted on a three-meter track, the carriage of which is equipped with a
reciprocating system adjustable from the cockpit.
A stick is mounted on the tiller and allows for steering while seated on the coaming. The tiller
has accessories to allow the windvane gear (Beaufort) and the autopilot (Raymarine ST4000)
to replace the helmsman if necessary.
The fairleads and cleats are solidly welded to the deck. At the main beam, an opening is made
in the lines on each side allowing a comfortable access. A mooring cleat is welded in this area
which allows to quickly block the boat in case of acrobatic docking maneuver...
At the front, a bow roller with two sheaves and a Manson anchor of 16kg. The 1000w Lofrans
windlass allows to pull up the anchor and its chain of 10mm diameter and 60 meters long. A
second anchor is equipped with 30 meters of 8mm chain and a 15kg Bruce anchor as well as
a 12mm diameter hawser to ensure a safe anchoring.
The front balcony is made of two parts linked together by a small step that allows to get on or
 off very easily.

COMFORT
The cushions in the saloon and in the front and rear cabins are made of 12 cm thick HR 40
foam, while the backrests are made of 7 cm thick HR 40 foam. All are wrapped in navy blue
covers with pull tabs so they can be removed for cleaning.
The handrails that ensure the safety of the movements inside the square are numerous and
well located. Two at the companionway, two in the kitchen area, two (vertical) between the
kitchen and the chart table, two above the saloon benches, one above the front bunk and one
above the rear bunk, and one in the bathroom. Many colored cushions complete the set. For
cockpit comfort, four specific cushions are also available.

The interior of the boat is insulated with 35mm ARMAFLEX and the floors are covered with foam flooring that ensures maximum comfort for bare feet in both warm and cold waters.

STORAGE
The storage lockers and equipment are numerous and easily accessible in the saloon, the cabins and the bathroom. There are three lockers in the cockpit: the first one on the starboard side aft is designed to hold two 13 kg propane tanks; it is totally independent from the rest of the lockers and has a gas evacuation pipe in case of leak.
The aft port side locker can easily accommodate the 5 fenders of 80cm X 20cm, the horseshoe buoy, the outboard engine feeder etc... The largest of the lockers, under the starboard cockpit bench seat, holds the breeze jib, the life support, the spare anchor, the cockpit table, the mooring lines etc... In the forward part of the cockpit is the 100-liter diesel tank and the Eberspächer heating boiler.
The starboard and port coamings are each equipped with three openings to safely store binoculars, sunglasses, gloves and other small objects.
