Description

The Rival 32 was designed and updated by Peter Brett and built by Marcon. This was a highly successful design with 200 hulls built.

The original owner, a dentist from lymington, bought the hull equipped with an engine in 1972 and fitted her out himself to a very high standard in a boatyard on the Thames. She was used for family holidays on the south coast and France for 30 years. In 2002 she changed hands, after having new mast rigging and the hull epoxied.

A new Nanni engine in 2013 with the doghouse, cushions renewed and revarnishing internally.

The present owner bought her in 2017 and embarked on an 18 month modernisation in Larkmans boatyard at Melton; new LED lighting, feathering propellor, new mast rigging, new electronics, more solar power, re-epoxied hull and holding tank.

Deck stepped, mast head rig with heavy Dacron main mounted in lazy bag. Roller furling headsail with Furlex gear and a cruising chute that has only ever had a test flight.

This go anywhere yacht is in good shape and benefits from the introduction of a 30hp Nanni inboard in 2006 and Windpilot self steering gear.
