Super sailing yachts, torpedo boats, submarines and oil platforms were built in bygone times in Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Garonne. This site of the Chantiers et Ateliers du Sud-Ouest, located downstream from the majestic Chaban-Delmas bridge, was soon exploited, and it is there in 1987 that Dieter Gust and Olivier Lafourcade created Construction Navale Bordeaux, better known under the acronym CNB.
The shipyard was then destined for the construction of custom-built aluminium super sailing yachts. The first one, Mari cha II, was a 92-foot yacht based on Germán Frers' architectural design, launched in 1989. CNB needed funds in order to ensure effective industrial roll-out and joined the Bénéteau group, world leader in the construction of pleasure boats, in 1992.
In 1997, the CNB Pro division was created. It built fishing boats, passenger boats and surveillance boats for the authorities. At the same time, the range of semi-custom sailboats ranging from 60 foot to 80 foot was developed, featuring Bordeaux 60' boats designed by Philippe Briand Design. In 2013, the range was expanded to include the very sleek CNB 76'.
CNB: the quintessential sailing yacht.
But buying a yacht goes beyond simply having it built, and CNB understands that. The shipyard offers comprehensive assistance from design to build, including leasing and management. The catalogue features 2 super sailing yachts, including the CNB 66', designed to be manoeuvrable by a family crew.
