All about Glastron brand
Founded in Austin, Texas, in 1956, Glastron was one of the first pioneers of fibreglass boats.
Three years later, Glastron Boats was selling more than 4,000 boats per year.
A new nautical legend was born.
The 1950s in the United States were years of rapid economic growth, which saw the emergence of a middle class with ever-increasing purchasing power and a love of leisure.
The market was ripe for Glastron's growth.
The brand, which has initiated many innovations, such as the pronounced V-hull, equipped with strakes and redans, was born in the mid-1950s and is now a standard throughout the world.
World leader in 1966, Glastron is now part of the Bénéteau Group and designs sporty Open models ranging from 5 to 7 metres, combining performance, practicality and elegance.
Glastron appeals to a wide range of customers, including James Bond, who made a spectacular jump in a GT-150 in 'Live and Let Die' and rode a torpedo-launched, delta-winged Q-Boat across the Bayou in 'Moonraker'.
Glaçon now markets 4 ranges:
Bowrider, GX and GT
Sundecks, GTDs
Fishing and skiopen boats, GTFS
Boats specialised in surfing, GTD Surf. The latter have a forward-drive transmission, capable of creating, as the boat moves forward, different types of waves that are pleasant to surf.
GX, GT and GTI are available in outboard and inboard versions.
