Bavaria 42: The ideal sailboat for all distances
Produced by the German Company Bavaria Yachts in 2004, this boat from the Cruiser range is ideal for both coastal and offshore navigation with family or friends. It has been updated and offers a change compared to former models. It now features the twin helm which allows for extra volume and width in the back. The boat is high-performing, comfortable and very easy to maneuver.
The exterior features a roomy cockpit. The table is between two benches, making it ideal for relaxing and navigation. The twin steering wheels allow greater visibility in the wind. Access to the transom is from a fold-down swim platform. 2 steps provide access to the water. The wide side decks and guard lines make it safe and easy to move around the boat. The piano is on either side of the entrance to the saloon. The winches are all located in the cockpit to facilitate maneuvering, which is ideal when sailing with a small crew.
The interior features a spacious saloon, with fine wood and large portholes to bring in natural light and provide maximum brightness. The starboard chart table extends into the U-shaped saloon which includes bench seating. On the port side, there is a convenient long galley with plenty of stowage space. The bathroom is equipped with a sink, a marine toilet and a shower. Headroom is 2 meters.
In terms of performance, the boat can be equipped with an Elvstroom set of sails which would permit achieving the maximum benefit from the boat's capabilities. Cruising speed is 7 knots with 15 knots of wind. Downwind, it can reach up to 9 knots. The sail areas is 92.9 m2 both upwind and downwind. The Bavaria 42 can accommodate up to 8 people.
