Robertson and Caine was established in 1991 in Cape Town, South Africa. With decades of experience in the construction of racing sailboats under his belt, John Robertson combined his skills with those of engineer Jerry Caine to gradually move towards the mass production of monohull sailboats, followed by catamarans.
Today, Roberston and Caine is a talented designer and builder of liveable sailing and power catamarans. Production is split over two ranges:
- Power Cat: power catamarans ranging from 43 foot to 53 foot;
- Sailing Cat: sailing catamarans ranging from 40 foot to 58 foot.
These liveable catamarans are particularly popular in warm waters: the Seychelles, Caribbean, Mediterranean and Southeast Asia are their most lucrative markets, particularly thanks to a strong partnership with the world-famous charter companies Sunsail and Moorings.
The company has sold over 2,000 catamarans around the world to date. The New Leopard 45, voted the world's best cruiser of the year 2017, was a great success among pleasure boaters. In 2019, the Leopard 50 won the 2019 Cruising World Boat of the Year Award.
Flawless quality and craftsmanship are the keywords of this South African builder, who in barely 30 years has become the leading manufacturer of pleasure boats in South Africa and one of the top three catamaran manufacturers in the world.
