The Dufour 500 Large, elegant and comfortable!
Launched in 2012, the Dufour 500 Grand Large has long been the shipyard's flagship. Like all the Dufour boats in the Grand Large range, it has been designed above all for comfort and ease of handling. It's also a boat you can manoeuvre easily with a small crew, despite being almost 15 metres long.
The deck plan is very clear and the halyards pass through a fairing which accentuates this impression. The windows are substantial, with especially the immense windscreen that is almost horizontal illuminating the interior, but also giving you a view of the rigging from the saloon.
Inside, the chart table is adjustable. It slides, swivels and tilts in a very ingenious way to adapt to heeling. The builder has even provided a wooden gate that hides the navigation instruments at anchor. Incredible! The interior space is just what you would expect from a boat that is almost 5 metres wide. The saloon is modular, but the most surprising room is the galley, located forward of it, against the forward bulkhead, and which occupies the entire width of the boat in a double U shape.
The Dufour 500 Grand Large is both fast, elegant and pleasant to steer, while offering comfortable features such as the plancha, usually reserved for multihulls designed for life at anchor.
