All about Marquis brand
Marquis was launched in 2004 as a trademark of the Carver Group, which was then building luxury yachts in Pulaski, Wisconsin. In 1954, Charles Carter and George Verhagen began building mahogany runabouts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The boating-pro pair chose to build their own boats rather than simply sell those produced by others.
In 1963, after the pair sold the Carter Boat Corporation, the company converted to polyester construction and gradually became a company of national standing, and eventually, one of the world leaders in this type of boat.
The Marquis range was launched with 18m (59ft) and 19.8m (65ft) motor yachts. So successful was the range that nearly 100 of the 19.8m (65ft) boats were built by the Pulaski yards between 2005 and 2008. However, not everything was rosy, and the bankruptcy of the parent company forced major restructuring. Nevertheless, yacht construction managed to continue with various commercial brands and styles. Marquis: an American idea of Europe!
In January 2019, the group owning these brands announced the relaunch of the Marquis range with a flagship model, the M42, which is destined to be joined by other larger boats. The M42 is intended to be 'a European-style boat, created by an American boatbuilder!'Indeed, the profile never fails to impress with its inverted marotte bow, its bold lines, its harmonies of grey and its cockpit, which is described as 'as vast as a dance floor'!
