All about Typhoon range

The Typhoon range, the quintessential inflatable!

One of the main advantages of inflatable boats is that they can be dismantled, stored and transported easily. The basic principle is that when you arrive at the water's edge, all you have to do is take your boat parts out of your bag, assemble them and then inflate and you're ready to sail. And when you want to head home, you deflate them and store them in your car boot, without any further fuss.

In actual fact, few inflatables are regularly deflated apart from tenders. Additionally, with the vogue for semi-rigid boats, there are unfortunately few folding boats left. In fact, semi-rigids with their "hard" hull have seaworthiness superior to pure inflatables whose bottoms are less rigid by natures.

The Bombard catalogue has several ranges of folding boats, including the entry-level range called Typhoon, with several models featuring lengths of 3.10 to 4.70 metres. All of them (except for a fully inflatable version of the 310) have an inflatable keel that creates the shape of the hull and is supported by a non-slip aluminium floor. A deflated inflatable remains heavy and cumbersome.

On the other hand, they aren't ready in the blink of an eye, but the freedom to pop a boat out of your bag anywhere is priceless. Ideal for mountain lakes, the back deck of a sailboat, a Sunday by the water... Typhoons are good for anything, including being invisible when you don't need them!

Typhoon: find your future boats

The range of boats centralizes models with similar characteristics, both in their design and in their use. A boat builder can have a range dedicated to racing-cruising yachts and another specializing in small outboard motor boats. The ranges of boats may need to evolve to better meet the expectations of boaters. Thus, certain ranges are disappearing to make way for new generations of boats.

Choosing your boat model from the range

Buying a new or used boat requires taking stock of your expectations as a future boat owner Here are the main questions to ask:

  • What is my maximum budget for buying a boat?
  • Do I have a berth available?
  • What is my boater profile?
