FOUR WINNS VISTA 248

Take Me Out is a Four Winns Vista 248, built in 2004. GRP hull finished in dark blue with white topsides. The boat is powered by Volvo Penta’s KAD32 170 engine which is both supercharged and turbocharged to provide a good balance between speed and excellent economy. The engine is mated to VP’s excellent duo prop outdrive giving good performance and excellent low speed manoeuvrability for berthing. The boat is in good condition for it’s age with the cockpit and cabin showing very little signs of usage or wear. Age related marks around the hull as to be expected but nothing major. Take Me Out has a top speed of around 25+ knots, is happy cruising at 20 knots all day long yet enjoys pottering along at 6 knots. Volvo’s KAD32 is renowned for its reliability and incredible economy and never once have we felt the burden of filling her up for a day out. The boat has been dry-stack berthed for a number of years at Rockley Boat park and was previously dry-stacked at Cobbs Quay, Poole. The V248 works brilliantly as a family boat with berths for 4 in the main cabin plus 2 more up on the deck using the camper covers. My wife and I have enjoyed a few overnight stays during our ownership which have been completed in comfort and a feeling of safety. The bed in the main cabin comes with specially shaped memory foam mattresses for great comfort. The galley comes equipped with a sink, 240v microwave, fuel burner stove and a 12/240 fridge for use on the run or on shore power using the provided leads. Lots of locker and under seat storage. A Clarion radio / CD player with helm remote provides the entertainment although we tend to bring our own Bluetooth speaker for days out. The cockpit seating is very versatile offering sun pad relaxation or a place to entertain around the table. Cockpit lights create a lovely ambience when enjoying those long summer evenings at anchor with friends. Access to the water is via folding ladder from the large swim platform. Our family have often enjoyed sunbathing on the foredeck. The manual sea toilet empties directly into its own tank which can then be pumped out at any marina service point ... no more pumping your waste into the sea. Sea pump out is provided for but we’ve never used it. On purchase in June 2019, we embarked on a significant refurb programme where the following work was undertaken: Fully refurbished Volvo Penta DuoProp outdrive supplied from Coastalrides, Dover in October 2019 with all new seals, bearings and clutch. New turbo exhaust elbow November 2019. New thermostats and raw water pump overhaul November 2019. Full engine out refurbishment in September/October 2020 to include: Front and rear main bearing seals replaced Refurbished coolant pump and pulleys using VP parts Refurbished starter motor Brand new alternator New power steering pipes Engine mounts Fuel feed pipes Trim pump replaced Oil pressure relief valves replaced New oil pressure sender fitted Supercharger electromagnetic clutch replaced using genuine VP parts Supercharger oil replaced Outdrive gimbal bearing replaced All oil coolers removed, stripped, cleaned / rebuilt with new seals Full engine service to include all changeable belts / fluids / pipes and a full flush Engine shot blasted and professionally repainted, refitted and fully tested by Shoreside Marine, Poole. Complete set of new high quality Sunbrella camper covers fitted by BoatyBits, Poole at a cost of £2500 This is a fabulous family sports cruiser, category B rated. We’ve enjoyed her very much in our ownership with many hours spent swimming and sunbathing around Poole Harbour. She has always started on the key and is incredibly economical to run and insure (currently pay £200pa). With the extensive investment in excess of £13500 during the past year she represents a superb one-off opportunity to purchase a well looked after turn-key boat that should provide reliable boating for years to come. We are sad to see her go, but a change in our priorities during this very difficult year means she’s up for sale. Please, no silly offers or time-wasters. Four Winns are high quality boats and these diesel versions are as rare as hens teeth! The boat has been valued in excess of this figure by several local brokers.
