Description

1998 Vancouver 38 Pilot House With the comfort and security of a raised deck saloon, Pilothouse included and area that can shelter from the elements whilst still enjoying 360 degree views. Heavy displacement, deep sections and long encapsulated keel provide stability and seaworthiness for safety and comfort during long distance passages. 'Estel' benefits from a Raymarine navigation system which includes radar and AIS. she is also fitted with windvane steering and wind generator heating and is copper coated. Viewing highly recommended. Construction and Mechanical Construction Both hull and deck mouldings are laid up in accordance with Northshore's Nordseal system. The hull topsides has a 1/2 inch balsa core sandwich and is double gel-coated in blue. The cored topsides provide both panel stiffness and thermal insulation. The sandwich construction is stopped 6 inch's short for the waterline. Below this to the hull centerline is solid single laminate with a clear gel-coat which Copper coat is applied in 2015. The Hull is supported by GRP base mouldings incorporates transverse floors, longitudinals, and the bulkheads are glassed in to the hull and deck. The engine seating has gelcoat coated surface and forms an integral drip tray. The ballast lead keel of 8,198lbs is fully encapsulated into the whole moulding and over laminated. The deck is half inch balsa accord laminate with polished gelcoat to receive the teak deck which was replaced in 2020. The coach rooftop is three-quarter inch balsa core laminate with moulded non-skid surface and is integral with cockpit and deck. Solid ply reinforcements are fitted in lieu of balsa for strength were fixing is passed through the laminate to prevent the core crushing in compression. The deck is reinforced forward of the support for anchor windlass which is new in 2020. The deck is bonded to a shelf which is in an integral part of the hull. The joint is overlaid with GRP and the cavity between the hull and deck upstand is filled and capped with a teak rail. Rudder is moulded in GRP with a substantial stainless steel stock, which is welded to a solid, stainless steel bar, providing continuous support for the blade and moulded in skeg fairing is employed to provide Hydrodynamic efficiency. Machinery The engine is a four-cylinder Yanmar 4JH3E 50 6HP fresh water, cooled, diesel engine. Engine hours 4727 Last serviced, October 23 Shaft driven with free bladed prop. Tankage 1 x 590 L stainless steel water tank. 1 x 365 L stainless steel diesel tank. 2 x stainless steel holding tanks with hand and deck outlet. Mast Rigging and Sails, Accommodation Mast rigging, and Sails Masthead, aluminium cutter, rigged by Selden. Mast steps fitted to the top. Standing rigging replaced 2012. Running rigging replaced 2021/2022. Slab reefing mainsail with 3 reefs single pennant. Genoa role of furling headsail by Furlex. Staysail on hanks. Spinnaker gear. Sails Fully battened mainsail by Arun pre 2004. Yankee Genoa by Arun pre 2004. Inner staysail by Arun pre 2004. Cruising chute with snuffer by Hyde Sails new 2022. Storm sails by Arun 1998 Accommodation Sleeps six in three doubles forward cabin, aft cabin, double centre cabin, and single berth in the saloon. Deck Saloon The saloon seating provides excellent vision through the pilothouse windows. The windows are 10 mm thick toughened glass. To port is a dinette with seating that can be used as a sea berth with a lee cloth. The table unfolds from coffee size to a dining size by use of hinged, flaps and will extend across to the helms seat by addition of a leaf. Forward of the dinette, are storage bins and the cave lockers behind the seat backs. To starboard is a chart table with adjustable helms seat giving excellent views forward. A console is provided to mount instruments and that there is plenty of space to store books and charts. There are storages on the side deck and aft to starboard is a large oil, skin locker and access steps to the aft, heads and cabin. Midships cabin The cabin is to port and is a large double berth. The mattress is split longitudinally, and lee cloth is provided a hanging locker is fitted outboard, and there are additional storage outboard of the birth on the whole side and the shelved cupboard. An emergency escape hatch to a saloon. Galley The galley is on the starboard side opposite the midships cabin. It is fitted with Force 10 three burner, gimballed cooker with grill and oven with a failsafe device on all burners, gas tap, adjacent to cooker sink with drainer with a mixing tap providing pressurised, hot and cold water. Hand operated freshwater pump as back up, icebox. with two fridges one next to the cooker and one under the chart table. located under the saloon floor, storage for plates cups, drawer unit with lockers outboard under the side deck. Galley crash, bar and rubbish bin. Forward cabin There are two full length, single berths with an infill to make a double infill is stored between the berths to form a seat. There are GRP storage bins under the berths. The chain locker is forward with access through the bulkhead trap. There are storage bins, under the deck shelves and a hanging locker and dressing table unit to starboard. Forward Toilet Separate toilet compartment is fitted with a marine toilet with hinged cover, handbasin, pressurised, hot and cold water fed to the hand, basin and separate shower with shower curtain. Teak shower, grating over shower tray, large locker, outboard, mirror, toilet roll holder and soapdish. The sink. Shower drain and galleries sink waste our planned to a grey water tank under the cabin soul. Grey water is discharged overboard by electric pump activated by a float switch, also manual backup pump fitted. The heads compartment is vented Aft cabin The cabin aft is too port and is accessed through the aft heads. It has a double berth and the mattress split longitudinally. Hanging locker and seat with storage under fitted together with a shelf on the whole side of the small cave lockers and emergency hatched the cockpit. Aft Toilet The toilet is on the starboard side and is fitted with a marine toilet with hinged cover wash handbasin and shower with shower curtain and storages outboard under the deck side. The heads compartment is vented. Eberspacher hot air to all cabins and saloon. Upholstery is dark blue with red stripes Solid teak with maple veneer ply.
