All about Sun Odyssey 44 model
No less than three models from the Jeanneau shipyards bear the name Sun Odyssey 44.
At over 13 m, you're talking about powerful and spacious yachts, capable of handling a wide variety of weather conditions while still being manoeuvrable by a small crew.
The 1990 Sun Odyssey 44 was a great success with nearly 500 of them being built. With a length of 13.30 m and a width of 4.23 m, the sailboat weighs 10 tons and has a sail area of almost 100 m2. Equipped with a single wheel steering system and a skirted stern, it is a sailing boat that is available as a three and four cabin version, one of which has a bunk bed and a quarter berth behind the chart table. It's a boat made for sailing!
The 2008 Sun Odyssey 44 i is a 13.67 m long and 4.37 m wide yacht, weighing just under 10 tonnes and carrying 100 m2 of upwind sail area. Compared to its predecessor, the stern is wider, allowing for two wheel bars that unclutter the middle of the cockpit. Available as a 3 or 4 cabin layout, the first version has a very nice owner's cabin. A full length galley and a lovely chart table complete the ensemble. A more powerful "Performance" version was also available from the catalogue.
The 2011 Sun Odyssey 44 DS is a Deck Saloon.
On these yachts, the saloon and cabin floors are raised to provide a remarkable panoramic sea view. This functionality means the dunnage is greater. Looking very elegant with its extended roof windows, the Sun Odyssey 44 DS is a broad (4,24 m) and comfortable sailboat which logically has a smaller sail area than its fellows which are oriented more towards race-crusing.
